One of the delights of a villa holiday on North Cyprus is the wide choice of restaurants and bars available, so if you don't want to cook, you don't have too!

If you want a cool drink in North Cyprus, almost any local restaurant or café will oblige with a cold Efes beer or a refreshing glass of wine any time of the day. Most hotels have bars open to non-residents too. North Cyprus also has a good assortment of English pubs if you miss your British pint, or want to watch football on the big screen.

Most holiday villas offered by Amy Villas are just a short drive from local restaurants, and within reasonable distance of the centre of Kyrenia. So, we've divided our short (and by no means comprehensive) North Cyprus restaurant guide into three areas:

1. Central Kyrenia (for everyone!)
2. West of Kyrenia (for villas near Lapta, Alsancak, and Karaman)
3. East of Kyrenia (for villas near Catalkoy, Ozankoy, Esentepe, and Bogaz)

Ezic Premier Restaurant
The Premier is the top of the range restaurant in the Ezic group. The Premier is often packed on Tuesdays for the excellent buffet night, great value at 29ytl per head. A good family restaurant too, as they offer a special kids menu.

Niazi's Kebab House
Perhaps the most famous restaurant in North Cyprus, Niazi's has been serving succulent steaks and delicious kebabs to locals and tourists in central Kyrenia since 1974. Situated opposite the Dome Hotel and just two minutes' walk from the harbour, Niazi's kebabs are so big that you will simply not need a starter!

Chinese House
Chinese House is actually just west of the city centre, but is well worth a visit for its excellent choice of Peking and Cantonese dishes.

Efendi's Restaurant
Dining outside at Efendi's is a delight, with the stars above and the wind gently rustling in the courtyard's large apricot tree. Situated in the old Turkish quarter of Kyrenia town, Efendi's menu features a selection of delicious dishes to tempt even the most discerning of taste buds.

Ambiance Restaurant in Karaoglanoglu
Situated right on the shoreline, the Ambiance offers wonderful views across the Mediterranean Sea. Regular villa rental customers come here for the quality meze and grilled meats, and there is also a vegetarian menu available. Make sure you leave room for the impressive dessert buffet!

Carpenters in Karaoglanoglu
One of the oldest restaurants in west Kyrenia, Carpenters is run by three brothers, who take great pride in their Turkish Cypriot menu. The Cypriot dishes are home-made including the traditional manti (pasta), melt-in-the-mouth lamb kleftiko, and rich moussaka. Open 7 days summer, Mon-Sat winter.

Jashans Indian in Karaoglanoglu
Jashans is probably the best Indian restaurant in North Cyprus. You can enjoy spicy, aromatic Tandooris, delicately balanced authentic curries and a surprisingly good range of desserts. Open 7 days.

Archway Restaurant in Zeytinlik
The Archway is a new Cypriot restaurant with panoramic views across the ravine to the mountains and the sea. The Archway serves a simple but extremely tasty menu of kebabs and fish dishes. Closed on Mondays.

Levant Bistro & Bar
Offers international cuisine and are located in the picturesque village of Karmi (Karaman). The traditional Cypriot building provides an ambience not available anywhere else on the island. A varied menu offers different meat, chicken, seafood and vegetarian dishes.  The food is exquisite, the views are breathtaking and the fun lasts all night long.

Ani Fish Restaurant in Catalkoy
The Ani Restaurant specialises in fish, and fresh fish at that. Try the catch of the day, the fish kebabs or a full Turkish fish meze, served either in the elegant dining room or outside in the pretty garden. Great value too.

Rafters Restaurant in Ozankoy
A must for a tradition British Sunday roast, including Yorkshire Pudding!

Pasha Restaurant in Bellapais
Pasha Restaurant is a real find! Not much more than a front room in the house, Pasha's home-made menu is pure Turkish Cypriot, including lahmacun, a sort of pizza topped with minced lamb or beef, sprinkled with lemon juice and served rolled with vegetables. Also try the traditional manti, a pasta-like dumpling.

Antique Restaurant
A simple but atmospheric bar and restaurant, serving traditional food at bargain prices. Great for a fun meal out with the locals.

The Tumba
This restaurant is run by the son of the local butcher, so the meat in his excellent kebabs and tasty mezes is of the highest quality!

Rosie's Restaurant
An open-air restaurant perched on top of a cliff, with excellent views and a specials board of Cypriot dishes that changes daily.

Holiday villa owners in Bogaz recommend The Moon for Sunday roasts, the Bogaz Garden in the harbour area for fish, and Kemalin Yeri for a tasty lunch.
